I did this painting of my church for a church-school charity auction to be held in March of next year. I took the photo in mid-September at about 5:00 in the afternoon.
The painting was done in between a two part workshop I took that focused on the impression of color more than the details. The result is that I was able to copmplete this church in about 7 hours work. Compare this (where, for example, I imply bricks) with the Irish Stone Church (where I painted every rock) that took about 20 hours work.
I probably spent more time on the shados of the west wall (right side) of the church than anywhere else. I suppose the other "fun fact" is that I was really unhappy with the foliage on the big tree in the irght foreground, so repainted the sky and much of the west wall; then started over on the foliage. It was worth it.
